Open Position: Part-Time Finance and Grant Writing Coordinator Internship

Korbit Technologies is a Montreal-based startup looking for a highly self-motivated part-time Finance and Grant Writing Coordinator to provide accounting and government grant writing support to the Operations Team. You will be working with world-class machine researchers from the MILA Laboratory and Cambridge University, where you will help with promoting educational products based on cutting-edge methods in artificial intelligence and machine learning. As the startup is young and growing, we expect you to adapt to the agile culture, to think like a generalist and to be a fast learner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Directly report to the COO and CEO to provide accounting supports
  •  Prepare different types of monthly financial statements
  •  Record expenses in the cloud system
  • Complete financial analyses
  • Prepare documents for the year-end audit
  • Perform analysis to support balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Apply for government grants, competitions and find sponsorships
  • Monthly / quarterly reporting for the approved grants
  • Manage salaries, payments, company benefits


  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Experience working with an accounting and/or salary management software
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in accounting, business administration or related field
  • Relevant experience in bookkeeping and/or business administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the executive team
  • Ready to devote the time and energy required in a start-up environment
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Currently a Canadian student and eligible to work in Canada

Other Useful Assets:

  • Familiarity with workflow management products like Jira, Asana, Trello
  • Familiarity with Quebecois and Canadian employees benefit system
  • Familiarity with technical terms widely used in AI, Data science and EdTech industries
  • Experience with tax reporting for a federal Canadian company
